The Little Rock Nine

The Little Rock Nine were a group of African American students who were about to start studying in Little Rock Central High School in 1957. Before that there were only white students. In May 24th 1955 the Little Rock school's board decided to accept the Blossom Plan which allowed African American's integration in schools that were previously all-white schools. In September 4th 1957 that plan was supposed to implement. But Orval Faubus who was the Governor of Arkansas, called the National Guard to prevent those nine black students, who were supposed to start studying in Little Rock Central High School, from entering the school. Dwight D. Eisenhower, The President of the United States, decided to interfere with the situation. He ordered 1200 soldiers to guard those nine black students so that they could enter the school. In September 25th the students finally were able to start studying in Little Rock Central High School.
