The Little Rock Nine

The Little Rock Nine were a group of African American students who were about to start studying in Little Rock Central High School in 1957. Before that there were only white students. In May 24th 1955 the Little Rock school's board decided to accept the Blossom Plan which allowed African American's integration in schools that were previously all-white schools. In September 4th 1957 that plan was supposed to implement. But Orval Faubus who was the Governor of Arkansas, called the National Guard to prevent those nine black students, who were supposed to start studying in Little Rock Central High School, from entering the school. Dwight D. Eisenhower, The President of the United States, decided to interfere with the situation. He ordered 1200 soldiers to guard those nine black students so that they could enter the school. In September 25th the students finally were able to start studying in Little Rock Central High School.

Lesson Seven

Last Friday we studied things about Ireland. I was quite shocked because of the things I learned. I can't believe that before that lesson I didn't know anything of 'The Troubles', which refers to the conflict between Protestants and Catholics in North Ireland. We also watched a video about the situation there nowadays. After that we listened a song called 'Fairytale of New York'. It's played by The Pogues, which is an Irish band. I really like that song even though the lyrics are quite harsh. Then we did couple of assignments in which we had to interpret the song.

Lesson Six

Today I started to search information about my subject i.e. the Oscars. I had problems finding any relevant information at first because I used wrong entry. That is because I didn't know that The Oscars are called Academy Awards. But after a while I found the facts that I needed.
I started to write my part of the booklet. I began my writing by telling what the Academy Awards are and when were they first arranged. I also wrote a list of all the categories.
Next time I am going to search information about actors and actresses who have received the most trophies in the Oscars. I'm also going to write about the history of the Oscars.

Lesson Five

Today we didn't have lesson, because our teacher was absent. So we started to plan our group project. I met my group in front of the classroom, except one of them didn't show up. We waited him for a little while, until we figured that he is probably not coming.
The country that we are going to do our project about is U.S.A. After a moment of thinking, we decided that our project's topic is going to be the film industry in U.S.A. Our subtopics are:
1. History of U.S.A's film industry
2. Film industry nowadays in U.S.A.
3. The Oscars
4. Hollywood and
5. The most lucrative movies in U.S.A.
I am going to search information and write my own part of the booklet about The Oscars.

 5. My opinions of monarchies are slightly contradictory. On the other hand I think that monarchies are really old-fashioned and that it is unfair that they live on taxpayers money. I think that they are unnecessary celebrities. They doesn't have to do anything, except be born, to become famous. And on my opinion, only people that have done something great or remarkable should be famous. But on the other hand I have respect for royals. I can surely believe that being a royal can be really hard and demanding. You have to pay attention to your looks and behavior all the time. And I don't doubt that it is hard to be famous from ever since you're born to the moment, and even after, you die.
