Lesson Three: Answers

1. The UK is short of United Kingdom.
 2. England, Scotland and Wales.
 3. North Ireland.
 4. London, Edinburgh and Cardiff.
 5. Great Britain, Ireland and over six thousand smaller isles.

 6. Arguments to support Scotland's independence:
-Scottish are the best people to make decisions about Scotland.
-Scotland could set it's own priorities
-Scotland would have it's own immigration policy.
-Scotland would have and control it's own armed forces
-Scotland could get rid of Trident (= a submarine-launched ballistic nuclear missile)

Arguments against Scotland's independence:
-Being a part of UK brings more economic security to Scotland.
-Jobs could be lost.
-Prices could rise.
-Scotland would have less influence in the world.
-Scotland benefits from UK research funding.

 In September 18th of 2014 there was a referendum in Scotland about whether Scotland should become independent or not. 55,3& of the people voted no and 44,7% voted yes. The polling percentage was 84,6%.
